Pet Joy

Owning a pet can be a wonderful experience which any pet owner knows. They give you love, make you laugh, and some protect you. But sometimes they give you joy in other ways. If you own a pet then I am sure you have had the joy of cleaning up puke, poop, pee, or torn household items.
Last week I had the joy of helping the boxer of the house who had eaten a shoe string. Only half of the string came out which meant someone had to pull her string. That joy took over twenty minutes of me chasing her around the yard with a folded paper towel. She would run a few feet then sit, run a few feet, and then sit again. I finally caught her and relieved her of her burden. There were four other family members in the house but none of them wanted to share that joy with me. I got my revenge though; I took the paper towel, string and all and showed it to everyone in the house.
When the boxer Shepard mix was neutered his stitches became infected. The Vet gave us some salve to rub on the stitches each day. We were also instructed to put hot Epson salt packs on his stitches each day for ten minutes. Can you guess who got the joy of that job? Ding, ding, ding, your right! It was me who got that joy. Each day I would have to fill a bucket with hot water and Epson salt. I would take a big thick cloth and wet it and hold it to his stitched area. The first day the dog ran from me. The second day he came after some urging. The third day he came right away. The forth day he ran to me. It was bad enough when he wasn’t thrilled about it but when he started to enjoy it I got very uncomfortable. Each day I would tell him “I’m Mama, remember that Bear”.
A few weeks ago the little boxer pulled onion skins out of the trash. She shared them with the other two dogs. Wasn’t that sweet of her? I won’t go into detail about what onions do to a dog. If you are a dog owner then you know what I am talking about.
This morning when I got out of bed the little boxer had been at it again. Somehow she managed to find a tree shaped air freshener for the car. It was in wet pieces all over the carpet. I found about ninety percent of it except for the end piece which has the rubber band. You know what they say; this too shall pass. Oh joy!

Searching For Great Blogs

I love to read blogs so I search out the best ones on the internet and go back as much as possible. One of my favorite blog sites is: http://www.growingupme.today.com. The lady who writes the blogs has a difficult life but seems to always find humor in her troubles. Some of the subjects she writes about are; being a Military wife, having a child with hemihypertrophy, raising three children on her own, living with in-laws and much more. Family matters, life, death, love, you will find just about everything on her site. If you get a chance drop over and read a bit.
Another blog you may want to check out is my blog: http://www.hauntedliving.today.com. I write on genealogy, interior design, ghost, hauntings, UFO’s, and living in the South, and more. Yes, I know it is an odd mixture but my interests are what I write about.
Sadly I have let this blog site sit idle for a long time now but that is about to change starting today. I have been so busy writing and promoting the today site that I neglected this one. The light bulb went off in my head today that I could connect the two blogs.
Now I have to go finish my Christmas shopping.

Where Did Courtesy Go To?

On Tuesday I went into a major drug store to buy track pants. According to the sales ad ran in our local newspaper they were on sale for $5.99 a pair or two pair for $10.00. I went into the store and picked out a pair along with a hooded jacket. I went to the check-out to only to find no one at the register. I waited about ten minutes and went back to the pharmacy to see if I could check out there. There were four people ahead of me who were getting their prescriptions filled. There were two people working back there and both of them were working on prescriptions. I guess it takes two people to fill each prescription. After waiting about ten minutes back without being waited on I once again made my way up front to find there was still no one working the front registers. I could hear paper rustling sounds from the office which looks out over the front of the store but the man inside made no effort to have a cashier help me. At this point I got angry and starting walking through the store looking for the cashier who I found stocking the make-up display. I asked her if she could check me out and she stated she did not know I had been at the check-out. When she checked me out the track pants rang up at full price instead of the sale price. I had two wait ten more minutes for her to make sure I was not lying about the sale price. The price was at last verified and I left the store. Because I was not able to try on the track pants they are too large for me. I could go back and swap them for a smaller pair but after what I went through just to buy them I decided to just give them away. I will not be going back there in the future to buy anything; no matter what the price may be.

Fall Spiders

Every fall we have very ugly, huge spiders that make webs over night. I find them hanging from tree branches and from the porch roof. I usually find them by walking into them. I am afraid of spiders and the bigger they are the more they scare me. I love the fall season except for the spiders. I especially love when the air has a nip to it and the leaves change colors. The rich colors of red, yellow, and gold are so beautiful.
This morning when I walked the dogs I walked through at least nine webs and some had spiders in them. I am bruised from beating myself up trying to get the spiders off my body. Even when I know there is no spider on me I still feel like they are crawling on me. I need one of those moon suits like the astronauts wore when they went to the moon so the spiders can not touch me. Or I could buy a scuba diving suit. I wish I could just stay in the house and wait for winter.
